Here Comes the Sun ~ The Beatles

Since I live in the Sonoran Desert, it should come as no surprise that it is hot here.

But to understand how hot, I just want you to know that on Sunday, May 1, 2011, I lounged by the pool from approximately 9 AM to 10 AM and I was, in fact, so hot that I perspired. And I rarely sweat.

This sitting outside is something new I am trying. I have yet to decide if I am vying for a tan, Vitamin D, more freckles, or skin cancer.

I am pretty sure that it is mostly for a tan.

Quite the irresponsible goal for an educated 30 year old who has heard over and over again the dangers of sun worshipping.

On the other hand, I have also heard over and over that tan fat looks better than white fat.

Conundrum.

I started this new habit of sitting outside last week. Last week I used one of my lunch breaks  to sit outside at my housesitting house and watch Opie, a giant yellow lab, try to play fetch with himself only to discover to his great consternation that the toy he dropped in the pool to fetch sank rather than floated.

Sunday, I sat outside by my condo's pool and started reading Eat, Pray, Love.  Yes, yes, Margaux and mom, you may stop nagging. I am reading Eat, Pray, Love

Today on my lunch break, I did the same. Except that since it was 2 PM not 9 AM, I lasted 20 minutes. 10 minutes of frying on each side to be exact.

My favorite part of sitting outside has to be the tranquilizing effects of the sun.

Except that approximately 10 seconds ago, my boss walked in to deliver some news that competely destroyed all the tranquilizing I just did at lunch. Bummer.
