I Heart Ira Glass

One of the many, many, many, many, many benefits of my new job (Did you know about the new job already? I can't even begin to bring you up to speed right now- just go with it.) is that I am back to being able to occasionally listen to old episodes of This American Life on my iPhone.

When I used to regularly listen to episodes of This American Life on my iPhone, I would just play the newest ones or whatever episode titles struck my fancy. This time, I decided to go all the way back to the oldest episode on the This American Life app and listen to the show from the very beginning all the way to the newer episodes. Today I listened to episode 10 entitled Double Lives.

This episode will forever mark the moment that I totally fell into a full on crush with Ira Glass. In this episode he was interviewing his mother briefly and she said something that made him laugh and laugh and laugh. Something about that laugh just got to me.

Previously, I respected and liked Ira Glass. This was something different. This was a crush. Towards the end of the interview Ira's mother makes a remark about Ira finding a nice girl and settling down. What I would not have given for a time machine! Because of course that episode was recorded in 1996 and he got married in 2005. But I am fairly certain those are the only two minor details separating us. That and the fact that I did not care for his attitude towards his family vacation to Hawaii in episode 4.

Related question: At what point have I gone too far off the rails as far as my completely one-sided relationship with Ira goes? Is it when I say aloud in my cubicle, "Ira, I don't like that." when he complains about his family trip to Hawaii?

Let me know okay? I am becoming concerned.
